How to choose the right stand

Start with the job, not the price. If you're adjusting a chain, lubing or removing a rear wheel, you need a rear paddock stand — L-hook type if your swingarm has threaded bobbin holes (8 mm or 10 mm), cup-adapter type if it doesn't. For parking, cleaning and van or trailer transport, a self-locking front wheel chock holds the bike upright hands-free the moment you roll into it.

Load rating is the spec that matters most. Take your bike's wet weight from the owner's manual and add a 25% margin. We weight-test every stand in this range in our own workshop before listing it, and the rating printed on the product page is the tested figure — not the box claim.

For engine-out work, the 450 kg engine and gearbox stand holds a full powertrain on a 360° indexed swivel head, so you can rotate the block to reach sump, head and clutch side without re-rigging.

Ratings verified quarterly against our in-house load tests. Last reviewed July 2026.

Open Face & Half Helmets questions

Does Xtron offer free delivery in the UK? +

Yes. Every order ships free to any UK mainland address — no minimum spend. Most in-stock garage and workshop items are dispatched the same working day, and 30-day returns are included on all orders (return postage is free if an item is faulty or wrong).

What weight capacity do I need for car ramps? +

Match the ramp rating to your vehicle's kerb weight plus a safety margin — never exceed the per-ramp limit. Our hydraulic sets are rated to 2 ton per ramp (4 ton per pair), suitable for most cars, vans and light commercial vehicles. Check your handbook weight before ordering.

What capacity does an engine stand need? +

Choose a stand rated above your engine or gearbox assembly weight. Our engine and gearbox support stands are rated to 450 kg (1,000 lb) with a 360° swivel head — enough for most car and van powertrains. Add a 25% margin if you mount accessories on the stand.

How do returns work? +

You can return most items within 30 days. Contact us with your order number, send the item back unused in its original packaging, and we refund to your original payment method within 3–5 working days of receipt. Return postage is free if the item is faulty or wrong; otherwise it’s paid by you.
